It's in the fine print..

April 17, 2018

It doesn't get much finer than the micro laser inscribed number on the GIA graded diamonds we sell. Only visible under magnification, the unique laser inscribed number matches the diamond to a corresponding GIA(Gemological Institute of America) Grading Report.

The micro laser inscription is inscribed by the grading laboratory and is permanently registered in the GIA's archive database. Buyers can verify the authenticity of the certificate they receive when purchasing a diamond by visiting the GIA website, www.gia.edu,and entering the unique number in the Report Check field. The buyer will then be able to compare the details of the diamond to the details in the GIA database.

At Goldsmiths Knysna, we prefer to sell diamonds accompanied with GIA grading reports, as the GIA have earned a reputation for accuracy and integrity when assigning diamond grades. Choosing a diamond can be a difficult task, especially when you can't easily see the difference between many diamonds with an untrained eye. For this reason, we supply GIA diamond grading reports for all diamonds we sell with a weight exceeding 0.30 carats.

The GIA report is an assessment of the characteristics of the diamond, showing the colour, clarity, cut and carat weight of the diamond. The report includes a plotted diagram, showing the characteristics of the clarity.

The report also details the quality of the Cut, Polish, Symmetry and Fluorescence of the diamond, factors which are very important in determining the overall brilliance of a diamond.

The GIA report gives you the information you'll need to make an informed decision and to compare like with like, ensuring you make the best choice for you.
